The Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Richard Fiesta joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how Republican control of the U.S. House could impact Social Security, Medicare and the lives of retirees.
The Alliance for Retired Americans is concerned that a Republican-controlled U.S. House could refuse to raise the nation’s debt ceiling and hold Social Security and Medicare hostage in the interest of making cuts to both programs, Fiesta explained.
He added that certain provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act, such as a $35 monthly cap on insulin costs and free vaccines for Medicare recipients, could also be under threat.
Fiesta then recapped the midterm elections and the success of candidates endorsed by the Alliance for Retired Americans.
