United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UE) General President Carl Rosen joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the unions efforts to empower and organize non-union workers during the COVID-19 pandemic through the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC).

Formed jointly between the UE and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the EWOC played a pivotal role amid the life-threatening conditions of the pandemic, as it helped non-unionized workers organize.

Rosen also talked about a successful effort by the UE to organize 3,700 graduate workers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a 2008 sit down strike by workers at Republic Windows and Doors in Chicago, which helped inspire the Occupy Wall Street movement.
