United Labor Agency (ULA) Executive Director David Megenhardt joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed new employment opportunities available in northeast Ohio through the Cuyahoga County government.
While the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is always looking for bus drivers, a new job category of transit ambassador was recently created. The job will involve riding buses, monitoring transit activity, making reports and tracking data, Megenhardt said. The position pays $19.58 per hour with a good benefits package. It is a good job for someone looking to start a career working for the government, and the county is very motivated to hire, he added.
Cuyahoga County has also placed a high priority on hiring corrections officers and social workers, he said. The county is always recruiting for these jobs but the filling positions has been particularly challenging in the past year or so.
Though no date has been set, the ULA plans to host application days for Cuyahoga County government jobs, Megenhardt said. Staff will help applicants navigate through the application process.
Lastly, Megenhardt discussed a virtual career fair that will be held by the ULA on May 19 from 9 a.m. until midnight. Job applicants will be able to live chat with prospective employers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The job fair can be accessed on ULA’s website.
