The Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Richard Fiesta joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed proposed legislation to expand Social Security.
The legislation, proposed by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), would, if passed, increase Social Security benefits by $200 per month and extend the system’s solvency past the year 2096 by raising taxes on wealthy Americans.
He then spoke about a separate bill proposed by U.S. Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) that would also expand Social Security, if passed.
Fiesta explained there will be a reduction next year in Medicare premiums and stressed the need to pass legislation to reign in the price of Insulin.
