The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed how China's military obtained stolen U.S. technology to develop its hypersonic missile program and the Biden administration’s efforts to clamp down on technology imports to protect U.S. innovation.
First reported in the Washington Post, Chinese military research groups, including many on a U.S. export blacklist, purchased U.S. technology and then provided it to the Chinese military, who then used it to develop a hypersonic missile program.
Paul detailed the efforts by the Biden Adminstration to protect U.S. technology, despite the reluctance of some U.S. tech firms to abide by federal protocol due to lucrative sales opportunities, which he believes creates a national security risk.
Paul also spoke about an op-ed he wrote that was recently published in Newsweek. It outlined the next steps to optimize the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act to reinvest in domestic manufacturing.
Lastly, he talked about AAM’s 2022 Made in America Holiday Gift Guide.
