Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed his belief the mid-term elections are an opportunity to move the country forward and away from the divisive and toxic politics that have plagued the political landscape for the last four years.

Burga specifically referenced the recent violent attack on Nancy Pelosi’s 82-year-old husband and reports of people showing up at election drop boxes in tactical gear, and armed with military-style weapons. He believes the nation will reject the violent and divisive rhetoric next Tuesday at the polls and pointed to U.S. Senate candidate Tim Ryan, an Ohio Democrat, as someone who can get past the political division and help heal the country.

Burga also talked about the importance of the Ohio Supreme Court elections in determining the future of Ohio’s political maps, which continue to be gerrymandered. The Ohio AFL-CIO has endorsed Democrat Jennifer Brunner for Chief Justice, and Democratic judges Marilyn Zayas and Terri Jamison for Ohio Supreme Court seats.
