U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the recent tour he took of the new headquarters of the Cleveland-based Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
Brown hosted Yellen on the tour to highlight the benefits of the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act.
Brown said Ohio is no longer the “Rust Belt,” as President Biden’s robust manufacturing and industrial policy will bring thousands of high-tech jobs to Ohio - thanks to passage of the CHIPS Act. He then explained the “Build America, Buy America” provisions, which he introduced into the American Investment and Jobs Act and the impact it will have on workers.
Brown also spoke about the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, which Congress passed last summer. Brown first introduced the bill on behalf of Robinson’s family. Robinson, who lived in Ohio, succumbed to a rare form of lung cancer after being exposed to a burn pit.
