U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) appeared on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and talked about the threat posed by the Chinese evading tariffs, reasons to prohibit China from dumping electrical vehicles in the U.S. and the Workers for Sherrod coalition.

Brown explained how China is looking to evade tariffs and the need to draft legislation that is one step ahead of them. Brown urged the Biden administration to ban the import of all Chinese electrical vehicles into America. While the administration has taken some action, it is not enough and needs to be stronger, he said.

Brown believes there are three reasons to prohibit the dumping of Chinese EVs in America and he explained how it would kill American jobs. He warned that Chinese EVs create privacy issues because they will collect people’s data. Furthermore, they create a national security issue. Brown said these vehicles can collect data simply by being on or near military bases.

Brown and AWF host Ed “Flash” Ference then spoke about Brown’s re-election bid for his current seat against challenger Bernie Moreno, a businessman endorsed by former President Donald Trump. The race, Brown said, is turning into the most expensive Senate campaign in U.S. history. A staunch supporter of organized labor, Brown recalled some of the many campaign stops he has made at Union Halls and Training Centers during the past few months to speak with union members. With the election winding down, union members have created the Workers for Sherrod coalition and are busy going door-to-door to support him.
