After avoiding shutdown, Congressional operations still concern Fiesta

Written by awfblog | November 17, 2023

Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, Rich Fiesta, joined the show to discuss his concerns with Congress, the progress of several bills and a warning about multiple candidates running for office in 2024.

Fiesta is concerned about the way things are operating in Congress. Following the ongoing battle for funding in Congress, Fiesta shared his thoughts on the information spread during the most recent debates from Republican Presidential Candidates. He informed the listeners of the facts of how Social Security works.

Fiesta introduced the listeners to several bills he refers to as “common-sense” bills that are circulating through the House and Senate. He described how the current operations in Congress won’t let these bills make it any further in the approval process. Fiesta hopes that there will be major wins by Democrats in the 2024 elections to win the House back and keep the Senate, that way, these bills could make progress.

Fiesta finished the conversation by providing warnings about multiple candidates who are seeking new offices or trying to retain their current positions. He believes these candidates will cause major problems for retired Americans. The Alliance continues to provide voting records on all members of Congress and grades on their impact for or against retirees, Fiesta said.
