North Coast Area Labor Federation President Pat Gallagher discussed the 29th AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention during his regular appearance on the America’s Work Force Union Podcast.
The convention was held in Philadelphia and its theme was “Building the Movement to Meet the Moment.” Talk at the convention centered around finding ways to harness the enthusiasm inspired by recent organization wins at Starbucks and Amazon, Gallagher said.
He discussed takeaways from the convention and reactions to President Biden’s speech. He also talked about the election of AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler as the federation’s first female president and AFL-CIO Treasurer Fred Redmond as its highest ranking African American leader.
Gallagher also touched on the upcoming midterm elections and the need to increase taxes on corporations and billionaires.
