Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 4 Administrative Director Frank Mathews joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the Affordable Connectivity Program, which is intended to provide Americans with affordable internet service.

Funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the program provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Those eligible include anyone whose income is 200 percent or below Federal Poverty Guidelines qualifies, which means essentially any household making $60,000 or less. He urged listeners who may qualify to apply for the program at ACPbenefit.org.

He also discussed various options for broadband internet such as DSL, cellular, cable modems and fiber optic cable and compared the advantages and disadvantages of each.
